Thank you so much for your support...we had an amazing trip and made it home safely.  We spent every dollar of the good deeds fund doing some really cool projects.

Every time we arrive safely in a new country, we will post both on this page and on our facebook page to let all of our friends and family know.  Also, as we are leaving a country, we will post a summary of what we found and did right here on our homepage.

Hopefully this will not be the last Epic Journey...maybe you can come with us next time!

This trip is definitely starting to feel real.  We've made a lot of changes since we started talking about the trip.  The trip has become more of a backpacking and busing trip instead of a driving trip.  After doing a lot of research we, along with the Mud board, decided that we would trade some of the freedom that whatever we give up in terms of freedom in having our own car will more than be made up with by the safety of taking the bus.

So...there are no more fears of breakdowns or rogue "checkpoints" along the way. No bribing of officials.  We're letting the professionals do the driving and we're going to enjoy the ride.

We also want to mention that getting to Brazil is not the goal of this trip.  Our plan is to build relationships with as many leaders and figure out where we can come along side them and help them do their jobs better. We are not out to reinvent the wheel and impose our American way of doing things.  We want to help.

Whether we make it to Brazil or we never even get out of Guatemala, if we've built relationships and helped people along the way, this trip will be a success.

....Oh yeah!  We bought our tickets today.  Cory and I are flying to Guatemala City on September 14.  Poor Elias is going from Tijuana to Mexico City to Panama City to Guatemala City.... an 18 hour journey!

It's official!   Our team is in place and we're busy raising money and doing all the prep work for our trip!
